Sterling silver (925/1000)
Aluminium (anoded it *or whatever you call it*)
and Mokumé ( a japanese technique of hammering different metels in eachother)
about 18 centimeters high and 7 wide.
including my broshe 99 hours of work.
The little spheres can rotate.. (there are 4 of them *2 mokumé and 2 aluminium) around itself. There is a lock in it so you can put paperclips in it.
It's a top. long live childerns toys!
The assignment was to make a desktoy that could move. It had to have 4 moving pieces and way less that 200 gramms and be smaller than 20 by 20 centimeters. It had to have pieces of colour in it and that had to be a hard material (like a gem or aluminium) and 200 other stupid rules.
8 oktober it's going to be jugded and if i make it i have a piece of my diploma in my pocket!
and i know this will be hard but can you explain what Mokumé is in a bit more depth, and how you do it?
once again very origional

they rotate on a axis.. from left to right or the other way around.
Euhmm well i will try. You take plates of silver and copper (or 2 other metals who have the same kristalstructure) you clamp in between 2 iron plates so yo have pressure.. and than you heat it just below melting point. The plates sort of melt in each other and than you let it cool down. Than you carv patterns out of it and you hammer it to a equal layer.. Than you carv again and hammer and carv and hammer. till the plate reach about 2 mm and than you can use it as plate material for all sorts of things.
You can search it on the internet under the name of mokumé gane.
The technique is used to make swords handles prettier.
I hope i could explane it a little

When is enough enough... What difference does it make when popular artist vent vent vent and support a site that tolerates deviant behaviour. HA! no wonder its all in a name.
Your Darkest Dreams is a monthly feature devoted to sharing dark photography works from DeviantArt. Often misunderstood as "morbid" or "depressing", Your Darkest Dreams seeks to show this kind of photography in a new way: by showcasing art that is thought provoking, but at the same time unabashedly displays the beauty in darkness.
